Today they got to look at it and well... it does not 'look' normal. Dr. Puccetti called in an ENT specialist who did two culture swabs and looked at his mouth. We are not sure if it is an abseth, or an infection that is draining out his mouth, or cut or a mouth sore. Because touching it did not hurt... it probably is not an abseth.
They tried to get a CATScan from him but Skeeter was not in the mood. This would be after his normal check-up, sedation, spinal and getting his port accessed (total of 4 hour appointment and hs had not eaten for 20 hours.) He threw an absolute FIT at the CATScan so they decided to reschedule (the scan takes 8 minutes of sitting perfectly still... and they usually sedate a 2 year-old but since he had been sedated only 1 hour before, they could not give him anything). He wouldn't let the nurse take his needle out (deaccessing his port) so I did it.
Thirty minutes later they called. The nurse forgot to put the Heplock in his port before I deaccessed him. Heplock keep the blood from clotting...and they were afraid it would clot before todays follow-up appointment. So we drove right back to the hospital and got him repoked and locked. We left him accessed because of the CATScan coming up on Thursday (where he will be sedated)
They are growing cultures today and we go back in at 1:30 for a check-in. And back on thursday (at SOME TIME) for the CATScan. I'll let you know how that goes.
